I don’t know what made me decide to take Computer Science before. Originally, i planned on being good journalist. I can even remember my answer (sort of) in a Q & A portion of a Ms. Youth Camp I joined in my early teens.
Question: How do you see yourself 10 years from now? How do you think God can use you by then?
Answer: I will be a journalist. As we all know, journalism involves press, press involves media. It is a fact that media has a big influence on young people today. I know God can use me there by sharing the word of God through writing!
This year will mark the 10th year after I delivered that speech (HAHAHA). It was quite predictable that the question would be similar to that, so I was very prepared and sounded fluent. I won! They didn’t know I actually rehearsed my reply and until now I can still pull out remnants of that information in what other people call memory.
However when it was my time to choose, i got smitten by math courses.
I had a change of heart, or was it a change of mind? I was choosing between electronic and communications engineering, statistics and computer science. Now, i do poorly with my composition. That’s what happens when you neglect something for a long time. i don’t even know if I can still write good opinions and editorials, or news articles or features like I do way back in high school. I think I lose my way with words.
now, i know programming and web development but i want a change in my career! Long exposure to my PC is straining my eyes a lot that my doctor advised me to keep a time off away from the computer. hehe. But, I can’t! this is part of my routine already and i’m very used to being with my PC more than 12 hours a day.
I’d like to have an outdoor job! anything as long as i can go somewhere else rather than a four-walled brick space. Maybe tour guide will do. Does anybody need a tour guide in Mindanao?
